An LED bathroom mirror is one of the cheapest ways to make a bathroom look new – but high-street prices are often £150–£300. Open-box mirrors (returned unused, often only because the box was opened) give you the same mirror for under £100. Here is what to look for and our current picks.

The 5 features that matter

  1. Anti-fog (demister): a heated pad behind the glass keeps the mirror clear after a shower. Worth having.
  2. Dimmable + 3 colour temperatures: warm light for relaxing, cool white for shaving and make-up.
  3. Touch switch with memory: remembers your last brightness and colour.
  4. IP44 rating: safe for the splash zone. Always check this.
  5. Extras: Bluetooth speaker, shaver socket, 5x magnifier, clock.

Which size?

  • 50x70cm or 60cm round: small basins and cloakrooms.
  • 60x80cm / 80x60cm: the most common size for a standard 60cm basin.
  • 60x90cm / 100x70cm: wide vanities and double basins.

Rule of thumb: choose a mirror slightly narrower than your basin or vanity unit. More detail in our LED bathroom mirror buying guide.

Installation

Most mirrors are hard-wired by an electrician to a lighting circuit in zone 2 or outside the zones; some come with a UK plug. Check the listing before you buy and always switch off at the consumer unit before fitting.

Why open-box?

Our open-box mirrors are new, checked for scratches and tested before sale. Any mark is described and photographed. Read the condition grades. Stock changes daily – most mirrors are single units.

Frequently asked questions

Do LED bathroom mirrors need an electrician?

Hard-wired mirrors should be fitted by a qualified electrician. Some models come with a plug, but sockets are not allowed in most bathroom zones – check UK wiring rules first.

Is a demister worth it?

Yes. Without it the mirror steams up after every shower; with it you can use the mirror straight away.

What does IP44 mean?

Protection against splashes of water from any direction – the minimum you want for a bathroom mirror near a basin.
